Music Mates is a national referral service for musicians that is free. They have been in business since 1995 and have helped thousands of musicians find work.  You can search their database by preferred performance level and state (USA). Music Mates is a good source for those seeking music instructors or for those seeking bands, soloists, or studio musicans for hire.
 

 

Of interest to songwriters and producers:

SongScope

SongScope is a song cataloging service for songwriters, song pluggers and producers. Songwriters and producers gain exposure to companies and A & R directors who are actively seeking new material. It is primarily a songwriters site.  The fee structure for listing songs is dependent on the number of songs listed.

 

TAXI

TAXI is for musicians, songwriters, and bands seeking a publishing deals (and many other kinds of deals). They have an annual membership fee and per song submission fee.  TAXI is also of interest to songwriters that are seeking contracts for jingle writing, movie and TV scoring, and other similar work.

 

Of interest to orchestral musicians:

MyAuditions

MyAuditions calls itself a "performing arts destination" for the orchestral musician.  They offer a comprehensive vacancy database that lists hundreds of jobs for musicians seeking work in professional ensembles, music schools, universities, and performing arts organizations.  They do have fees for employers wishing to post opportunities, as well as subscription fees for member mmusicians. You will also find a set of career resource tools, information on thousands of school programs, competitions, and wealth of industry news. They also have well over a 100,000 links in their music directory.

 

Of interest to those seeking internships or standard jobs related to the entertainment industry:

Entertainment Careers

Site has a diverse range of positions available compared to most music employment web sites. Includes job listings for video engineers, sound engineers, TV and broadcast production jobs, and much more. Also includes listings for more standard jobs like accounting, but for entertainment related companies. A notable feature is their list of job hotline phone numbers for the major broadcasting and music networks.  One of the few sites that has listings for internship positions.

Of interest to those seeking music jobs in the travel industry:

Proship Entertainment

This site is dedicated to the hiring musicians (and other entertainment professionasl) to work on cruise ships.  The positions are salaried and they provide assistance with passports, visas, contracts and getting proper physicals to meet international travel requirements.
